CLEANING KIT FOR "FERPRO" HEAT EXCHANGERS- Flat (without threaded spigots).

For connecting cleaning pump hoses to exchangers without threaded spigots . Cleans the central heating and hot water circuit in the exchanger. Spigot spacing 42 mm.

The kit enables the connection of a cleaning pump to the plate heat exchanger.
After removing the plate heat exchanger, the kit is assembled with the help of spigots (holes with gaskets) to the exchanger.
The kit is tightened to the exchanger with the use of the enclosed screws, if the exchanger has threads in appropriate places. Otherwise, carpenter's clamps may be used (not included).
The threaded ferrules in the kit allow for the connection of cleaning pump hoses.
Centreline distance of the holes with gaskets - approx. 42 mm.

Plate heat exchangers are extremely efficient , which allows the use of smaller and smaller sections in boilers. However, relatively small amounts of iron oxide (rust) may block the water paths. A small amount, as 12 grams of rust can cause damage to the heat exchanger rendering it immobile. A central heating system can contain several kilograms of loose rust and thus failures are common. When this situation occurs, it is necessary to flush the primary water (central heating) side of the heat exchanger to remove deposits and iron oxides. The internal design of many boilers means that this cannot be done without removing it from the boiler. If the plate heat exchanger has BSP threaded connections, it is easy to connect the flow and return hoses of the flushing pump.However, many plate heat exchangers have a simple hole-punched water inlet/outlet, with nothreaded connection, and in these cases special flush pumpadapters are needed to connect the flow. Specially made manifolds are available from Kamco to connect hoses and connect most heat exchangers of this type.

Instructions for use:

Many combination plate heat exchangers without BSP threaded connections follow a general pattern with four holes.Diameter from 15 to 18 mm, located at 155 x 40 mm. There is usually a 5 mm female thread at each end so that the boiler connection is suitable.The manifolds can be positioned and secured with a5 mm hex during normal use. Kamco plate heat exchanger adaptor blocks should be fixed as shown in the pictures, using the M5 Allen screws provided. It may be necessary to drill another 8 mm hole in the body of one adaptor block if the connection, the threaded post is more offset than usual.If this is the case, "G" type clamps can be used. to ensure a tight connection of the adapter block to the heat exchanger. Each adapter block has two male 3/4" BSP connections and the flush pump hoses should be connected to these fittings, one at each end. Both should be fitted on the same side, of the heat exchanger (see photo above). The choice of side will depend on whether the primary on the water side or the domestic water side reddens. While plate heat exchanger adapters are generally waterproof, always place the heat exchanger in a waterproof tray or open container before switching on the pump.Circulate only water first and check for leaks before adding any chemical to the flushing pump supply . In cases where the heat exchanger is severely blocked, clean DS-50 can be poured into the exchanger and allowed to soak for 24 hours before flushing with the pump.

Notes:

The domestic water side of the heat exchanger can generally be descaled without removing the heat exchanger from the boiler casing. Access to the domestic water circuit can be gained by connecting to the cold water inlet via a pipe and hot water pipe leading to the tap, under the boiler and connection.Pump supply and return hoses to suitable BSP fittings / threads. The adapters supplied by Kamco fit most plate heat exchangers, but cannot be guaranteed to fit all.
